Sundar Pichai is an Indian-American business executive and CEO of Google and its parent company Alphabet Inc. He was born on July 12, 1972, in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India.


Pichai completed his engineering degree from the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur in 1993. He then received a scholarship to pursue his Master’s degree in Material Sciences and Engineering from Stanford University. Pichai also holds an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.


Pichai joined Google in 2004 and worked on various projects including the popular Google Toolbar and Google Chrome. He later became the senior vice president of Chrome and Apps and led the development of the Chrome OS. In 2013, Pichai was also put in charge of Android, which is now the world's most widely used mobile operating system.


In 2015, Pichai was appointed CEO of Google, taking over from Larry Page, one of Google's co-founders. As CEO, Pichai has overseen a period of rapid growth for Google and has expanded the company’s focus on artificial intelligence and machine learning.


In 2019, Pichai was named CEO of Alphabet Inc., Google’s parent company, following the departure of Larry Page. As CEO of Alphabet, Pichai oversees Google's other businesses, including Waymo, the company's self-driving car division, and Verily, its life sciences division.


Pichai is known for his low-key style and his passion for technology. He has been named one of Time magazine's 100 most influential people and is a member of the Board of Directors for Alphabet Inc.


In addition to his work at Google, Pichai has also been involved in a number of philanthropic efforts. He and his wife, Anjali Pichai, founded the Pichai Foundation to support education, health and technology, and he has also been a supporter of several charities focused on providing access to technology for underprivileged children.
